HR Director | Hygiene Product Manufacturing | Onsite role in Hauppauge, NY

Human Resources Director, Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Our client, a growing health and hygiene products manufacturer, is seeking a Human Resources Director to lead all HR operations at its Long Island headquarters and manufacturing facility while providing strategic oversight to a newly established manufacturing facility in Texas.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced, hands-on HR leader to serve as the organization's senior HR professional and trusted advisor to leadership. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the HR Director will oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle for a large manufacturing workforce, while building the people, processes, and infrastructure needed to support continued growth across multiple locations.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing HR strategy and executing day-to-day operations. This highly visible role encompasses talent acquisition, employee relations, payroll and benefits administration, compliance, performance management, leadership coaching, and organizational development. Success in this position requires a strong floor presence, a collaborative partnership with operations and finance, and the ability to foster an engaged, high-performing workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities: Strategic HR Leadership, Talent Acquisitions & Onboarding, Employee Relations & Culture, Compliance & HR Operations, Performance Management & Development, and New Facility Start-Up & Oversight

• Serve as the lead HR professional for a growing multi-site manufacturing organization, overseeing all aspects of the employee lifecycle from recruitment through offboarding.

• Partner closely with executive leadership, operations, and finance to align people practices with business objectives and support continued organizational growth.

• Lead full-cycle recruiting for hourly, skilled trades, and salaried positions, including periods of high-volume hiring. Develop talent pipelines and implement effective sourcing strategies to meet workforce demands.

• Manage onboarding, employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning initiatives that support a positive employee experience and strong organizational culture.

• Act as the primary resource for employee relations matters, conducting investigations, managing performance concerns, advising managers, and ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and practices.

• Maintain a visible presence throughout the manufacturing facility, building relationships with employees across shifts and fostering a positive, engaged, and high-performing workplace culture.

• Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, leave management, HRIS administration, personnel records, and other core HR operational functions.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including responsibility for audits, reporting, policy development, and HR best practices.

• Partner with operations and safety leadership to support workplace safety initiatives, training, and compliance with manufacturing safety standards.

• Lead performance management, employee development, succession planning, and leadership coaching initiatives to strengthen organizational capability and employee growth.

• Provide strategic oversight and mentorship to an HR Generalist supporting a newly established manufacturing facility in Texas, helping to build consistent HR practices and scalable people processes across locations.

• Support the continued expansion of the organization by developing HR programs, infrastructure, and processes that can scale alongside the business.

Required Qualifications:
7+ years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment.

• Demonstrated experience as a standalone or senior HR leader — this is a hands-on, do-it-yourself role, not just a strategic one.

• Deep knowledge of New York State and federal employment law, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, and EEO regulations.

• Proven track record managing high-volume hourly workforces (300+ employees).

• Experience with ADP or comparable HRIS/payroll platforms.

• Strong employee relations skills with experience conducting investigations and managing complex HR situations.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to connect with employees at all levels of the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in English and Spanish — strongly preferred.

• HR experience in consumer goods, wet wipes, personal care, or food & beverage manufacturing.

• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.

• Experience with multi-shift manufacturing operations.

• Familiarity with union environments or labor relations is a plus.

• Master’s degree in HR, Business, or Organizational Development.
